Local Law Enforcement
Roughly 50 vehicles have been covered with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Vehicles, building surfaces and postal boxes were defaced, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they stated in a statement.
Police say they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a individual observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored fluid.
The liquid had been applied in the form of a banned symbol, they stated.
Police then found numerous other vandalized automobiles and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.
These symbols are illegal in Germany under laws banning the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.
Police say preliminary tests indicate the liquid was likely human bodily fluid.
"At present there remains no clue as to its source; authorities are presently not aware of any physical harm in association with the occurrence," they stated.
Municipal representatives said they were working "to unravel the case" and have requested to the community for tips.
An important representative said the vandalism left him speechless and required to be addressed rapidly.
"This event hits the very heart of Hanau and revives the wounds of the far-right violent incident half a decade ago," he wrote on online, referring to the death of nine victims by a assailant targeting residents of migrant background in 2020.
